Frieda Ottmann ist seit April 2022 wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin im ANR-DFG geförderten Forschungsprojekt "ELEMENT" zur Umweltpolitik der EG/EU und promoviert bei Kiran Klaus Patel. Ihre Dissertation befasst sich mit Wasserverschmutzung und der Entwicklung des Wasserschutzes auf europäischer Ebene. Frieda Ottmann erwarb 2021 an der LMU ihren Master-Abschluss in Geschichte mit dem Fokus Zeitgeschichte.
